Walt Quote Wednesday (November 2, 2022)

"But now, looking back, I have satisfaction, even pleasure, in tracing the effects those newspaper-delivery days had on my mature life. Now I can appreciate the self-reliance, self-discipline, and self wisdom gained from those responsibilities. The sense of responsibility - yes, this I believe is the most valuable thing a boy can carry along into later life from his first job."

In 1911, the Disney family moved to Kansas City, Missouri where Roy and Walt delivered Kansas City Star newspapers for their fathers distributorship. Roy and Walt would wake up at 3:30 a.m, seven days a week to deliver newspapers before heading to grammar school. The boys weren't paid and Walt often said he had nightmares about walking up to his neck in snow while delivering the newspapers.
