Random Disney A to Z Entry: Alan Tudyk

A segment we used to do on the Talking Disney Podcast was the Random Disney A to Z Entry. During this segment we would choose a random entry from the Disney A to Z: The Official Encyclopedia (5th Edition) and share it with the listeners. We are bringing that segment to pages of the Talking Disney Podcast website with the release of the latest edition of Disney A to Z: The Official Encyclopedia (6th Edition). Originally created by Disney Legend Dave Smith, this is the first edition since his passing on February 15, 2019. Steven Vagnini, who collaborated with Dave on the two previous editions and has since taken on the task of updating this amazing book!

Talking Disney Podcast Movie Night: ‘Third Man on the Mountain’

Welcome to the Talking Disney Podcast Movie Night! We love movies here at the Talking Disney Podcast, we watched and talked about each of the Disney animated feature films on Podcast Episodes #51 (The One That Started It All) through #124 (Strange World Is The End Of Our Journey.) We are bringing some of that movie watching magic to the website. We will still talk about some movies in the podcast in the near future as well. Our goal is to watch one movie a week, share some details and publish our thoughts on Fridays (or Saturdays.) Some weeks we may have comments from all three hosts, sometimes two and sometimes just one.

Disneyland from the sky! This photo was likely taken in the early 1960s, although the exact date is unknown. Although if I had to narrow it down using two attractions I’d say it is between August 8, 1961 (opening of Flying Saucers which can be seen on the viewers right) and November 18, 1962 (opening of the Swiss Family Treehouse which is not present in the photo.) If you look carefully you can see the Los Angeles Airway helicopter likely heading towards the heliport near the Disneyland Hotel to drop off guests that landed at Los Angeles International Airport.

Featured Disneyland Resort Attraction: Disneyland Railroad

Each week (maybe more often) I will feature a random current attraction from the Disneyland Resort here on the Talking Disney Podcast website. Our next random featured attraction we are highlighting is the Disneyland Railroad at Disneyland Park.

The Disneyland Railroad attraction is located in Disneyland Park at the Disneyland Resort with various stations located around the resort. The attraction was an original opening day attraction, transporting guests around the park since July 17, 1955.

The Star Tours - The Adventure Continue attraction is located in the Tomorrowland area of Disneyland Park at the Disneyland Resort. The current version of the attraction opened on May 20, 2011, with the original version, Star Tours opening on January 9, 1987. The updated ride system consists of high-defination video, a Dolby 3D high definition screen and an improved motion simulator with newly added special effects.

We are bringing back a feature we did for a while last year. 

Our latest entry for Walt Quote Wednesday is from an interview of Walt Disney by Fletcher Markle for the Canadian Broadcasting Company on September 25, 1963. Taken from the 2023 book 'The Official Walt Disney Quote Book' by the staff of the Walt Disney Archives.

“I actually started to plan the picture about 1935. And I fooled around with it, trying to get a hold of a story and things, for a couple years, and finally it began to jell, then I went to work on it and I finished in the fall of 1937. I didn't know what I had or what would happen or anything. We had the family fortune, we had everything wrapped up in Snow White. I fact the bankers, I think, were losing more sleep than I was. And fortunately, though, when we out it in and premiered it and everything else, why everything was fine and the bankers were happy"
